The joke not-so-subtlely invoked the “birther” controversy. The Twitterverse is now abuzz with witty repartee, shooting jokes back at Romney which invoke his status as a wealthy, white bread, tax-dodging fat cat.

All teams have since deleted the offending posts. The Chicago Cubs even followed up with the tweet: “For the record, the #Cubs are big fans of Bill Murray. #NotHacked.”
The hacker is still at large (watch out, NHL!)
Update: Deadspin reports that the MLB Facebook and Twitter accounts were not hacked, but were instead at the mercy of a rogue employee working for the “Advanced Media” arm of the MLB (which collectively manages all its teams’ online presence).
The posts may have been an inside joke and not meant for public eyes, but Deadspin also notes that employees working for the social media arm of the MLB are grievously underpaid.

Have you used a travel agent in the last year to plan or book a vacation? How about a social media website like Twitter? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “…the ability of travelers to research vacations and book their own trips using the internet is expected to continue to suppress demand for travel agents.”
More and more, travelers are turning to Twitter to make their travel plans. What’s great about Twitter is you can interact with people, regardless of whether you follow them or they follow you. Additionally, you can search for information based on a topic with a simple hashtag. For example, if you’re going on an around-the-world trip, you can search the hashtag #rtw. You can also post your own questions and hashtag the tweet, to make it easier for knowledgeable travelers to find your questions.

Sweden’s social media experiment, in which it surrenders its “official” Twitter account to a different Swedish citizen every week, has been running for six months now without any major embarrassments. Unfortunately, its good luck ran out earlier today after a 27-year-old mother of two tweeted fairly clueless “questions” about persons of the Jewish persuasion.
Setting aside the obvious point that conspicuous markers of identity have not gone well for Jewish people historically, why would you even NEED to know whether someone’s Jewish or not? You’ll discover a person’s religion, race, heritage, or identity as you get to know them better over time. Until then, they’re just an acquaintance or a passer-by that could be Jewish or Lutheran for all you know.
Barely a tenth of a percent of Swedish people are Jewish, so the questions that were tweeted today probably came from ignorance more than anything else. No word on whether Sweden is considering a mandatory training video on political correctness for future wielders of the country’s Twitter handle.

He’s made 82,730 tweets already? Screw the fact that he has no life, Twitter NEEDS this man.

You best watch who you hit on when you’re a married man, because it could be a model with 13,000 Twitter followers. Brian Presley did not take this advice to heart, as the “actor” you’ve probably not seen on such shows as General Hospital and 7th Heaven has been married for all of the last ten years.
Of all the ways to FAIL at hitting on strangers, this is one of the worst.
